RAWTENSTALL-born actress Jane Horrocks has launched a Christmas card recycling scheme and wants others to join in.
In 2006, Lancashire people recycled 25 tonnes of cards to help Woodland Trust and Recycle Now's Christmas Card Recycling Scheme smash its 60 million card target.
That raised enough money to help the Woodland Trust plant 20,000 trees in the UK.
Jane said: "More than one billion Christmas cards get sent in the UK and we want to recycle at least 90 million.
"Funds raised will help the Woodland Trust save trees, and cut down on waste."
Cards can be dropped in recycling bins at WHSmith, Tesco, and TK Maxx stores throughout January.
