A STORE'S security guard was attacked by two men after he asked them to leave because they were causing a disturbance.
One of the men took the guard by the neck while the other punched him and the attack only stopped when another officer dragged one of them off.
Nasar Latif, 20, of Wensley Road, Blackburn, appeared before Blackburn magistrates and pleaded guilty to assault.
Latif was made subject to a community supervision order for 12 months, told to do 100 hours unpaid work and pay £50 compensation and £200 costs.
Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said the incident occurred in the Netto store where three young men, including Latif, were throwing things at each other and shouting.
They were asked to leave but initially just laughed at the manager.
One then walked out and as the security officer escorted the other two to the door they suddenly turned and attacked him.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said the other man had started to grapple with the security guard and Latif had initially got involved out of concern for his friend.
"He accepts that his reading of the situation was wrong and he should have shown more restraint," said Mr Taylor.
