WALKERS had the chance to start the year in energetic style after taking part in a New Year trek around Huncoat.

The six-mile walk saw ramblers scale the Coppice and Hambledon Hill around the village on New Year's Day.

Local councillor Brendan Shiel said: "It was a nice head clearer and a great way to start the year.

"This was the third year we have done the walk and it is becoming an annual event now."
