AN appeal has gone out for witnesses to a crash on the M65 at Nelson on New Year's Day.
Three vehicles collided during a heavy hailstorm near junction 13.
A fire crew cut out one of the motorists, who was taken to Burnley General Hospital along with another of the drivers.
The two men were not seriously injured but one of them remains in hospital where he is being treated for injuries to the head, hip and neck.
A police spokesman said: "It is not completely clear what happened due to the weather.
"We know that two black Ford vehicles were involved, but we are appealing for witnesses."
