TODMORDEN is preparing for a visit from judges for the Britain in Bloom competition.

After winning the best town section of the Yorkshire in Bloom competition, the town was invited to represent Yorkshire in the Britain in Bloom.

Now, hopes are high that the hard work being put in will get its reward when a team of experts come to judge the efforts that have been put in to brighten not just the town centre, but all the outlying areas of the town.

Todmorden Town Council, which is masterminding the challenge, has already agreed to pay a grant of £12,550 to help Todmorden in Bloom committee members and helpers help make the town look brighter and tidier than it has ever looked before.

Plans have already been drawn up by Todmorden Together worker Peter Woodhouse to make sure the town is in tip-top condition.

And the town council has agreed to an early meeting to make sure the preparations have all been carried out.

Chairman of the amenities committee, Coun Joe Rez, said: "We know the track record of the organisers of the Todmorden in Bloom, and with these two organisations in charge of improving our town, I am certain Todmorden is going to impress the judges when they visit."
