NEARLY £2,000 is set to be invested in providing fun activities for young carers in Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.
Plans have been drawn up by Carers Link, across the two boroughs, for an adventure day and residential outing, alongside monthly meet-ups, for teenagers with caring responsibilities.
The funding has been rubber-stamped Lancashire Youth Council, who believe the initiative will help a large number of young people.
Around £790 was earmarked following a recommendation by Ribble Valley Youth Council and now a further £1,188 has been approved, in the latest youth council grants round, from a similar bid from Hyndburn.
A Carers Links official said: “The activities will bring young carers together over a series of events to enable them to have fun and adventure together.”
The organisation said that the assistance would help reduce ‘social isolation’ among young carers and help them to forge new friendships.
