THE last meeting this year of Worsthorne with Hurstwood Parish Council will be tomorrow at 7pm in the Reading Rooms, Worsthorne.

The Parish Council has a winter break in December and reconvenes on January 28. Future meetings are then held on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

All residents of the parish are invited to attend, observe the meeting and even take part in the public participation part of the meeting.

Usually the borough and county councillors also attend the meetings, providing updates and responding to residents’ inquiries.

Do you have a waste, highway or street lighting issue or any other issue about services provided by the borough or county council?

If so, attend and put these issues to the relevant councillors. PCSO Dave Johnson also attends and provides a report and agrees the Police and Communities Together (PACT) priorities for the month. Do you have an issue you would like to raise with the police, or even have set as a PACT priority?

n Parish councillors attended the Remembrance Service and laid a wreath on behalf of the parishioners.

With next year being the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, the parish council will be asking residents if they feel something extra should be provided and would welcome suggestions.

If you have any ideas for next year’s Remembrance Service or ways to commemorate the anniversary, contact the parish clerk by email at worsthornewithhurst n It is hoped that the Christmas lights will be switched on a little later this year, as it was felt they had been lit too early last year.

A number of bulbs were blown last year and we will be asking that these are checked before they are lit this year.

It was also noted that the gormless lamp is not working and this is to be reported to the county council.

  • The development work at the reservoir is nearing completion.

Local wildlife has been impacted by the work, but the parish council has been assured this will be put right as part of the work and the wildlife will soon return to the area.
