BRIERFIELD’S Cactus Line-Dancing Club raised £1,000 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The club, which has donated £5,500 to the charity over the past five years, held a series of raffles, along with fundraising nights and selling games and cards to reach its fundraising target.

All the money raised will be used to support prostate cancer projects funded by Rosemere.

The group, which meets three nights a week at Brierfield Working Men’s Club, was inspired to support the charity by group leader Pam Hartley. Her dad was diagnosed with cancer and treated at the Rosemere Cancer Centre in Preston.

Dan Hill, area fundraising co-ordinator for East Lancashire at Rosemere said: “Despite their name, this group really aren’t a prickly bunch.

“They’ve done a fantastic job raising so much for Rosemere.”
