HIGH school students were put through their paces designing a weight-powered vehicle.
Pupils at The Hollins Technology College in Accrington welcomed other schools as they hosted the annual Rotary International and BAE Systems Technology Tournament.
The engineering challenge involved 124 children making up 31 teams. This year’s test was to help reduce pollution by designing, building and testing a prototype vehicle, powered solely by a 200g weight.
Children from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Blackburn were named section winners with Mount Carmel High School, Accrington as runners up. Intermediate section winners were Norden High School and Sports College, Rishton with runner up Saint Christopher’s High School, Accrington. Advanced section winners were Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Blackburn with runners up Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, Clitheroe.
