A MAN suffered a three-inch cut to his face during an assault in a town centre beer garden.

And police believe this man, right, may have vital information about the unprovoked attack which happened while the man was sat outside Bar Ibiza in Mincing Lane, Blackburn, with a friend.

The 28-year-old was punched in the face by a man, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain the facial injury.

He was taken to hospital and police said he had been left with a noticeable scar on his cheek.

After the assault, which happened at around 9.30pm on October 13, officers drove around the town in a bid to trace the attacker.

However, he was not found and officers have now released CCTV images of the man they want to speak to.

The man was around 30-years-old, tall and a stocky build with short, cropped, fair, shaven hair.

He was wearing a grey T-shirt and light coloured three-quarter length bottoms. Police are appealing for the man in the picture, right, or anybody else with information about the attack, to get in touch.

PC Keely Powell said: “This is a serious and unprovoked assault which has left the victim with a noticeable scar.

“I appeal to anybody who witnessed the assault or who recognises the man in the CCTV image to contact police on 101.”

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
