WORRIED neighbours of the Savoy Service Station on Blackburn Road Darwen are being told plans to turn part of the premises into a hot-food takeway have been refused.

Blackburn with Darwen council planning committee was informed borough officials have turned down the scheme after a 60 signature petition opposing it was received. The objectors were concerned about increased traffic on Argyle Street and Gillibrand Street late at night if the takeaway went ahead.

They were also worried about noise and litter, adding there were ‘too many takeways in the area’.

The committee noted the petition after being told the application had been refused and neighbours were being informed.
