A ROSSENDALE woman died after she fell down the stairs at her farmyard cottage, an inquest heard.
Marlene Bernice Walsh, 72, suffered multiple fractures to her skull when she fell at her home in Buckhurst Road, Walmersley, on the rural outskirts of Ramsbottom.
Her body was discovered at the foot of the stairs by her hairdresser around 9.20am on June 1 this year, the inquest was told.
But East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor said it was ‘likely’ that she may have fallen downstairs the previous evening.
Mr Taylor said: “I don’t think we’ll ever quite understand how this came to be, but I can’t draw any conclusion other than it was an accidental death.”
