This week I was spending time checking out some local attractions with the children.

So, that you don’t all fall into the same trap I did, here’s three days in under 350 words.

First up I was at the Play Factor near the Trafford Centre.

Whilst the kids seemed to enjoy themselves, the Play Factor did what most places like that do… they charge you over the odds for the food and drink.

Once they have you inside they know full well that you have to eat their food.

Now, I don’t mind paying a little over the odds but £3.50 for an iced squash drink is pretty steep.

Next up I was at the South Lakes Wild Animal Park in the Lake District. Finally somewhere that does what is says on the tin.

If I was to compare this place and Blackpool Zoo… I would have to say this place wins hands down.

It was reasonably priced and on top of that, the food was quite good. The kids seemed to enjoy the area where the lemurs and ostriches roam free.

Day three saw us visit Southport Pleasureland and this turned out to be quite surprising.

The area is free and you only pay for the rides you want to go on. On top of that the staff are actually quite a friendly and helpful bunch.

For a family day out you can’t actually go wrong and I can see myself returning here once again.

This is what Blackpool Pleasure beach was like before they decided they wanted to be like Alton Towers.

The best part of the visit was the cup of tea. Now, I know this might sound a little strange but I haven’t tasted a better cup of tea and here’s why.

You bought a cup in the café and walked over to a table where there was big bowl of sugar.

You put as much sugar in as you wanted before pouring your own milk. You disposed of the tea bag or kept it in – your choice!

I have been to many places on the planet but there are some things that are simply irresistible.
