AN appeal to raise £250,000 for a cancer-stricken youngster to receive treatment in the US has smashed through the £200,000 barrier.

Christine and Carl Shaw, of Glencoe Avenue, Hoddlesden, need to raise the cash for four-year-old son Sam, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in January.

The cash is needed to send the youngster to Philadelphia for potentially life-saving immunotherapy treatment.

Mum Christine said: “We can’t thank people in the community enough for all their efforts to help our Sam.

“There seems to be a different fundraising event on every day and it really is overwhelming.”
