AS advertising slogans for a takeaway go, it is, how shall we say, unusual.

But when you find a leaflet behind your door that shouts: “Say no to drugs say yes to Harry’s” it really does catch the eye.

Some of my colleagues insist you would need a mind altering substance in order to eat a kebab - but as regular readers know, kebabs do form a large part of my core diet, especially after a day at my drug of choice, cricket.

So with leaflet in hand I gave Harry’s on Blackburn’s Johnston Street a call.

I was tempted to tease Harry’s about their slogan - but realising quickly that a) they may not have a sense of humour and b) they would be cooking my food, I decided to play it straight and order a special mixed kebab.

It took a good 30 minutes before the doorbell rang and my food landed but you can live with that - and that was pretty much in the ball park of the scheduled arrival.

The naan with chicken tikka, seekh kebab and donner meat certainly looked like a meal and it was decent enough, although the mayo tasted more like salad cream and the salad was of the limp variety.

I also ordered a portion of fries - why don’t takeaways do proper chips? - and I must admit I was pretty well full when I got through everything.
