SUPPORTERS gathered to celebrate Blackburn Youth Zone’s first anniversary.

They were treated to interactive workshops from young people who attend the £6million Jubilee Street building, which was officially opened by Prince Edward in February last year.

Activities included music sessions and speeches about how the Youth Zone has fared in its first 12 months.

The sessions were intended to encourage a relationship between local businesses and the Youth Zone in the hope that they would support the institution financially.

Guests were also told about plans for the centre and how help was needed to secure it for the future.

The Youth Zone is open to youngsters aged eight to 21 and costs 50p per visit after a £3 sign-up fee. They can take use facilities including music and dance studios, a sports hall and a rooftop football pitch.
