PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson praised East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust Breast Screening Unit during a recent visit.
He was greeted at the unit, based at Burnley General Hospital, by chief executive Mark Brearley, consultant radiologist Dr Richard Dobrashian, and consultant breast surgeon Julie Iddon.
Mr Stephenson said: “I was delighted to be invited to see the pioneering work being undertaken in the Breast Screening and Surgical Unit, and meet the hard-working staff that provide such a caring service.
“East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is at the forefront of breast cancer care, providing a range of excellent services.
“I am keen to continue working with the Trust to raise awareness of the importance of breast cancer screening, and do whatever I can to increase the uptake of screening within the local community.
“I would encourage all women to take up the opportunity of breast screening when invited, and visit this friendly and efficient unit.”
