THE annual watercolour exhibition at Towneley Hall will run until the end of this month.
The Brushes With Nature exhibition showcases British landscape paintings from the eclectic Towneley collection of art.
Visitors from East Lancashire will recognise familiar views such as Pendle Hill and Cliviger Gorge.
The exhibition also includes five paintings by Noel Leaver, who taught at Burnley School of Art until the 1930s. His view of Holme is on display, as are scenes from other parts of the country such as the Wye Valley and the Sussex Downs.
Coun John Harbour, Burnley Council’s executive member for leisure and culture, said: “This exhibition will not disappoint, and we hope many visitors will come along to see our latest offering. We have an interesting year of exhibitions at Towneley Hall, and the watercolours are going to get us off to a fine start.”
Due to the fragility of watercolours, they are not on permanent display.
A small selection of the Towneley collection will be displayed each year, to ensure that future generations can enjoy them.
