DIANA Vickers is going back to the school where she was inspired to follow her musical dreams.

The former Westholme pupil, who found fame in The X Factor, will be returning to the Meins Road senior school to officially open its new music centre.

She will also be performing an intimate gig to staff, pupils and the public after the grand opening on March 5.

Busy with her fashion label DeeVee and her Collection 2000 make-up line, Diana will be performing with other Westholme singers and songwriters during the first half of her concert.

Vivien Shaw, marketing officer at Westholme, said: “Diana spent many hours in the Westholme Music Centre’s practice rooms composing songs for her GCSE music and we are thrilled that she has found time to return to her old school to help open our music centre extension and to take part in a concert.”

The music centre reopened to pupils in September after the whole building had a £250,000 facelift.

The aim was to make it bright, spacious and welcoming – ‘perfect for channelling creative energies’.

Since appearing in The X Factor in 2008, 21-year-old Diana, from Huncoat, has had a string of glamorous jobs which include making her debut in the film industry, acting alongside Clint Eastwood’s son in The Perfect Wave.

She also appeared in the West End production of Little Voice as well as having successful singles and album The Tainted Cherry Tree.
