A FORMER BBC Young Musician of the Year and some of the brightest young classical performers in the country will be at Blackburn Cathedral on November 11.

The cathedral's own Renaissance Singers will be joined by the internationally-acclaimed Aronowitz Ensemble to perform a programme of music by the English composer Gerald Finzi.

The concert marks the 50th anniversary of his death.

The ensemble includes Guy Johnston, who won the BBC Youing Musician of the Year title in 2000 and his brother Magnus.

Richard Tanner, the cethedral's director of music said: "We are so fortunate to have the Aronovitz Ensemble combining with us.

"People all over the country are raving about their performances and tickets for their concerts are like gold dust.

"This is a rare chance to hear them and I hope that people will join us for what will be an evening of beautiful and relaxing choral and string music."

Tickets are priced £10 and are available from Linda Bruce on 01254 503082, Gordon Shaw on 01254 813586 or on the door. Students and under-16s are free.
