A JUDICIAL review against Blackburn with Darwen Council's decision to continue knocking homes down in Redearth Triangle, after it lost a public inquiry, has been put on hold.
Mr Justice Lloyd Jones in the High Court also refused to lift an injunction which bans the demolition of any more homes at the site in Darwen, which is earmarked for the £33million academy.
The council has already purchased all but 11 of 152 properties and were in the process of demolishing them when a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) they had obtained under the Housing Act was quashed by a government inspector.
The council has sought a second CPO on planning grounds and a public inquiry is expected to decide its outcome next year.
If the inquiry finds in favour of the council the judicial review will not take place.
But Adrian Walker, of Redearth Street, who brought High Court case welcomed the result.
Coun Mohammed Khan, executive member for housing and neighbourhoods said the council would continue to address any anti-social behaviour that might arise from the derelict homes.
