MEMBERS of the Co-op will bring festive cheer to Burnley while raising money for a school dinner project in Africa at a Fairtrade Christmas evening.

The Co-op is the UK's leading supermarket supporter of Fairtrade and visitors will be able to sample a range of its award-winning Fairtrade wine during the event at Turf Moor.

They will also find out how Fairtrade projects are changing the lives of people in South Africa and Argentina.

Information about how individuals can hold their own Fairtrade wine tasting events to raise funds for a local charity will be available.

Tickets are free but guests will be invited to make a donation to the Oxfam School Dinner Project, which encourages children in Africa to attend school by providing meals.

A spokesman for the Co-op said: "The Fairtrade Christmas evening will give people the chance to enjoy some festive fun while bringing real Christmas cheer to people on the other side of the world."

The event, for over 18s only, is open to members and non-members and takes place at Burnley Football Club on Wednesday, November 22, at 7pm.
