POLICE in Burnley are investigating a report of a possible abduction in Lindsay Street in the early hours of Sunday.
A caller reported seeing a woman forced' into a black VW Golf, or similar vehicle, at about 3.30am and said she appeared to be distressed as the vehicle was driven away.
Det Insp Sam Birtwell, from Burnley CID, said: "We are not sure if this was an abduction, or whether it just looked that way. An investigation has been launched.
"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident. That includes two people reported to have been in the area at the time: a woman walking along the street and a male on a pedal cycle who may have been calling the name Danny or Danielle.
"If there is an innocent explanation for the incident we encourage those involved to come forward."
