PADIHAM'S Lantern Festival is predicted to draw large crowds when it is held with the Christmas Lights switch-on later this month.

The event takes place on Friday, November 24 and will culminate in a firework display, an indoor Christmas market in the ballroom and a children's fun fair.

The procession will begin at Padiham Football Club at 6.30pm and end at the town hall where the lanterns will be displayed.

The Lantern Festival and Firework display, organised by Padiham Life, has received National Lottery Awards For All funding of £5,140.

The rest of the funding will come from Padiham Life's events fund.

Paul Howard, Padiham Life event organiser, said: "We are all looking forward to the procession and the fireworks which will signal the start of the Christmas season for the town.

The town council has spent a large amount of money this year on refreshing some of the lights at the Church Street side of town so we are confident we can put on a good show for residents of Padiham and visitors to the town alike".
