A THUG who attacked a teenager and a man in one night and left the second victim unconscious and seriously injured, has been jailed for four years.
Matthew Nuttall, 26, a house husband who had been out celebrating his wedding anniversary, got out of a car and punched John Bannister repeatedly in the onslaught in June.
Burnley Crown Court was told a witness thought the defendant had used a knuckle duster. Police traced and arrested Nuttall through the car number.
He made no comment when questioned, but was picked out by three witnesses on a video identification parade.
Nuttall, said to have had a “heady cocktail” of drink and drugs left Mr Bannister with a bruise on the brain, lacerations over his eyes, haemorrhaging and bruising to his chest wall and broken ribs.
The defendant, of Tong Lane, Bacup, had admitted assault by beating and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Simon Gurney, for Nuttall, said: “He describes his behaviour as sickening. It's quite clear he feels physically sick seeing the way he has behaved.”
