FIFTEEN thousand people flocked to Blackburn Rotaract's 25th annual bonfire on Saturday, organisers said.
Pub and club boss Margo Grimshaw launched the evening by setting the fireworks off at Witton Park.
David Hamer, bonfire co-ordinator for the Blackburn Rotaract, said: "The evening went really well and about 15,000 people attended."
Although people were not meant to bring sparklers and fireworks for safety reasons, some visitors ignored the advice.
Mother of two Zoe Cemm, 32, said: "There were four lads who started throwing firworks onto the path.
"I was disgusted. People go to organised firework displays so they do not have to endure such people."
Mr Hamer said there were 50 volunteers stewarding at the display but that a bigger police presence was needed.
