NELSON Brass Band is holding two open days to give would-be musicians the chance to try out for the band.

The 152-year-old band will be recruiting on Saturday at Colne Library from 10am to 1pm and then next Saturday, March 29, at Nelson Library from 10am to 1pm.

Band member Mike Rourke said: “Some people think brass bands are all about playing loud and marching around the streets, whereas it is all about live music making and etnertainment.

“Nelson Brass is about playing music from pop to the classics and having fun doing so.”

The band rehearse every Monday from 8pm at Calder Mill, Colne.
