The final has final arrived with Matthew, Jorgie and Chico battling it out to hold the Dancing on Ice trophy!

Eleven weeks of whittling the numbers down has brought us to this point having seen some highs and lows.

Opening the show with a reprised version of Bolero was Torvill and Dean in modern purple outfits.

The live band and singing really intensified the music and the audience seemed to appreciate this.

The skating can only mean one thing – three start the show but only 2 get to skate this iconic piece – who will have what it takes?

Matthew Wolfenden and Nina.

Singing in the Rain is a fabulous piece of music and Matthew and Nina were accompanied with a skating cast ensemble.

It was a fun piece with Nina changing from Matthew to Daniel during the routine, which gave Matt time to skate alone and showcase his skills.

I liked the use of props and the rain feature and it was no surprise that he gained a score of 30! Perfect 10’s across the board for his first skate in the final.

Jorgie Porter and Matt.

Not too sure about the cheesy lines at the beginning of the routine in a bad American accent but I liked her skating routine! Looking fabulous in a bright red leotard with curled blonde hair she performed the routine really well.

Another ensemble number which worked great as “Fame’ is an energetic piece of music.

A score of 29 was well deserved with Louis awarding a 10 for performance. I don’t think it had the edge over Matt’s but it was a great number.

Chico and Jodeyne.

Skating to “Happy Days” and dressed like the Fonz Chico looked super cool! A big mistake at the beginning of dropping Jodeyne could have been a really bad accident.

I thought he saved it well and made sure she was put down as gently as possible – even though it was on her bottom.

This really detracted from the rest of the routine and it was a shame as he has been pretty foot perfect every other week. A score of 26 reflected the mistake, which was a shame as I enjoyed it.

Matthew Wolfenden and Nina.

Picking their favourite routine of the series, they skated to “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

Another really good performance from them both, ending with a great platter lift in the closing beats. 28.5 awarded from the judges, which beat the original performance by 1.5!

Jorgie Porter and Matt.

I loved their “Fallin” routine the first time around but really though Jorgie gave it everything this time around. She looked lovely and her skating was also lovely.

A massive score of 30 was awarded and it was completely right. I loved watching it.

Chico and Jodeyne.

Chico skating out in his zebra print leggings can only mean one thing… “I’m sexy and I know it!”

I loved this energetic routine the first time around and it was just as good watching it again! No problem with the overhead lift this time and it was a confident skate.

Another perfect score of 30 and I definitely agreed!

Losing Chico at the final hurdle was so sad but he was as positive as always and watching his best bits was a treat!

He came into the competition as first reserve and managed to get to the final and that is a fabulous achievement.

Matthew Wolfenden and Nina.

With only two rules – starting on your knees and ending lying down – they took to the ice to skate the Bolero.

Matthew seems to have had a great deal of input into the choreography and that is brilliant, as it means it is his routine.

I thought they skated great with plenty of emotion that the piece needs.

It had lovely transitions to show off skating skills and he managed to get the star lift up after a little struggle. He is a true competitor on the ice and is a pleasure to watch.

Jorgie Porter and Matt.

Again Jorgie looked great in her purple dress with her plaited at the front. Some nice steps were included along with some lovely lifts.

One little hiccup on the exit of a lift did not take away from the loveliness.

I did think Matt had more content in his routine but I enjoy watching Jorgie skate as she has lovely arm lines.

After a short break and recap of the series the winner was announced ……Matthew!

This comes as no surprise as I think he has been there since the beginning of the series but definitely well deserved. Special mention to Jorgie who was top girl all the way through as well and deserved her second place.

So, another year of Dancing on Ice has come to an end. If you want your fix of skating to continue the tour is starting in a couple of weeks and you can always get yourself to the local rink and start learning to skate yourself!
