It has been a week of highs, lows, heels and toes. Is it me or is Craig Revel-Horwood mellowing? Giving three eights in one week - I have never known him to do that for any celebrity's first dance.

Len seemed to be a little moody and frustrated. Bruno seemed more uncontrollable, and even Bruce acted like he had overdosed on vitamins but I feel Alesha has finally found her place on the panel giving excellent comments, both constructive and positive.

Natalie Cassidy and Vincent
TANGO: The Tango is Vincent's dance and as they started the routine I thought it was right on the money. There was plenty of passion and staccato, however Natalie was not erect enough. In fact, she began to slump in places which then allowed her footwork to become a little sloppy. The second half of the routine became all acting and not dancing, almost as if they had run out of time to finish choreographing the routine.

CHA CHA: A lovely example of a lively upbeat Cha Cha, Natalie was a little heavy-footed in places, but she looked stunning and really owned the floor. She has promised this week she will spend twenty fours hours a day in the studio. If she does I think she will go from strength to strength.

Zoe Lucker and James
WALTZ: What a gorgeous entrance and an effortless demonstration of a well-choreographed Waltz. The simplicity that was portrayed in their shaping and style made it look like we were in week eight of the competition. I would have scored them at least nine.

RUMBA: Zoe is going to be one to watch over the next few weeks after a beautiful Rumba with lots of emotion and movement. Again, as in their Ballroom, a simple routine yet danced wonderfully. Zoe has a lovely leg and hip action, they dance well together and actually look like they are in love.

Craig Kelly and Flavia
TANGO: Not a bad effort as there were moments of drama and strength - a few too many facial expressions for me, but I thought the music did not help Craig. The Tango should be danced all on one level and because of the speed and syncopated steps that had been choreographed into the routine he had to rise onto his toes just to keep up with the music and to keep his timing, which was good. Also, a few less arm movements would have helped him keep his control.

RUMBA: Again Craig has good potential and there were signs of nice lines and hip action developing, but it did seem a little forced and quite stiff in places. The choreography was all start and stop and not quick, quick flow.

He is trying though and if he is prepared to put the work in I think he could go a long way. They definitely did not deserve to be in the bottom two in my opinion, and how hard must it be to dance your Ballroom routine from the previous nights show having just danced Latin? I take my hat off to you sir!

Richard Dunwoody and Lilia
WALTZ: A very nervous first dance, but Richard had good footwork, floor craft and control in places. It was a well-choreographed routine that just lacked a bit of strength in the body, but excellent advice from Alesha 'work on one thing and take one step at a time'. They are all under so much pressure that allows them to forget their training and make silly mistakes.

CHA CHA: Not a very good example of a Cha Cha, it reminded me of a seventies disco dance. The music was too fast, and I wonder whether Lilia had asked for it to be played at that speed. The fast music is why there were several timing issues from both parties. However, he did look like he was thoroughly enjoying himself, and to have the bottle to dance in front of millions of people "hitchhiking" takes some nerve. Richard did not deserve to go this week, as he was not the worst by effort, talent or the judge's scores.

Laila Rouass and Anton
TANGO:What great stance she has, a few more heel leads would have strengthened her forward walks, but what went wrong in the middle? I personally think that it was Anton. But it did not spoil the atmosphere they were creating, it was a pure Tango.

CHA CHA: A very simple cha cha routine, maybe a little to easy. I felt myself watching Anton and his antics rather than Laila and her ability to dance.

She does have a beautiful leg line, and has the potential to go further.

Again it was Anton's mistakes as he was dancing off time - which there is no excuse for. I hope they iron out these little mistakes for next week's show.

Phil Tufnell and Katya
WALTZ: This reminded me of a very happy father dancing with his daughter on her wedding day. I had a glowing feeling inside, a lovely simple entrance with some very nice footwork, the whole picture they painted before our eyes was flowing as the Waltz should be danced. This was a very promising first time on the dance floor.

CHA CHA: A great lively Cha Cha with simple yet effective choreography with surprisingly good strong arm lines, a few little footwork issues and I did not like the walks round the floor with his hands in front of his waist line, he looked like he was doing the "tush push" rather than a cha cha, but he was light on his feet his timing was excellent. However, I think I preferred his Ballroom.

Jo Wood and Brendan
TANGO: They had quite a clumsy start and it did look as if Brendan was dragging her round the floor and not letting her dance. She had nice shaping on her oversway but I was slightly disappointed.

RUMBA: Jo needed to stretch her legs more as she danced everything on bent knees, I think there was a little too much dramatisation especially at the beginning, I don't know what Brendan had told her to think of but if I am right it was only suitable to be shown after the watershed. She did however look as if she wanted to be there and they obviously enjoy dancing together. But, for me, after both of their routines they should have been in the dreaded dance off.

Ricky Whittle and Natalie
WALTZ: What a way to end Fridays show. Go Ricky Go! Fantastic footwork and control - if anything a little too much sway in the shoulders and head, but this guy can dance. How gorgeous they look together and to receive a nine on your first week has never been heard of.

RUMBA: Again a fantastically executed Rumba and a very well portrayed routine. Rumba is very difficult to dance as a man - to not become too soft or feminine and Ricky did a 'fab-u-lous' job. He now needs to work on his foot strength to make this dance a ten out of ten. I hope he does not peak too soon and keeps up all this hard work.
