Star of the Dutch Dancing on Ice and former British Figure Skating Champion, Blackburn's Dannielle Guppy gives her view on the latest Dancing on Ice series.

With only two weeks until the final, five couples remain fighting for their chance to skate the Bolero.

So with Torvill and Dean opening the show to Michael Buble’s ‘Save the Last Dance for Me’ we were introduced to the required element – the unassisted jump.

This is probably the most difficult set element. It needs the skaters to have confidence to take both feet off the ice and then land in an upright position – preferably with a running edge at the end of it.

Jessica Taylor and Pavel
Music: Mercy – Duffy
This was another confident performance from Jessica and she didn’t show any nerves throughout it. There was a combination of jumps included in this – a toe-loop and a loop – the first landed clean and a slight touch down on the second. I thought that this was the best performed routine by Jessica and she interacted with Pavel extremely well. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she gets into the final as she is still one of my favourites in the competition.

Donal McIntyre and Florentine
Music: Let’s Stick Together – Brian Ferry
I like Donal although this week wasn't his strongest skate. He is solid on the lifts and managed to save one that happened right in front of the judges which is brilliant. His unassisted jump was a half axel/three jump and wasn’t the most elegant but to be attempting that after only months of skating is a great achievement. He still showed improvement in some areas though and I think that Donal is the dark horse in this competition.

Zoe Salmon and Matt
Music: Run – Leona Lewis
One of my favourite pieces of music – but unfortunately Zoe didn't skate all that well. She opened well, but a stumble after the lift meant that the nerves started to show and the knees became stiff once again. I was disappointed with her unassisted jump as well (which was a three jump), blink and you missed it. I think Ruthie had her as a clear favourite and was marking her high despite of what she wass producing which I think is completely wrong.

Coleen Nolan and Stewart
Music: Diamonds are Forever – Shirley Bassey
You can’t help but like Coleen even though it is plain for everyone to see that she is weakest skater in the competition. Her personality shines through in her interviews, the videos before the couple skates and also on the ice. The unassisted jump was assisted by Stewart due to her wrist being injured and I think that was a good decision as falling on it again could be disastrous. This week was her strongest – the performance was much better and her solo skating skills have improved also but the main point I would like to make is that she smiled throughout! It made such a difference!

Ray Quinn and Maria
Music: Use Somebody – Kings of Leon
Another good performance from Ray and his Russian split jump was excellent although, if I am being extremely picky, I wanted a better exit on it with a running edge! With all his focus being on the jump this week it looked a little rough-around-the-edges in certain parts but overall it was great. Ray and Maria seem to be the couple to beat at the moment as they are consistently top of the leader board.

The Skate-Off
I was not shocked to see that Coleen got through once again, as she has such huge support from the public. I was disappointed that Jessica was in the skate off again, as I think that was a bad decision – but mine is not to reason why!

Jessica performed the second skate really well and this time the loop had a cleaner landing. Zoe’s skate was good but I thought that it was a little stiff again in the knees which, unfortunately, affects the whole performance.

So Jessica is through for the semi-finals and I think that the judges got it right. Well, four judges got it right. No prizes for guessing that Ruthie voted for Zoe!

I am interested to see what happens next week and who she will champion!
