A BURNLEY bar owner who wows clubbers in Magaluf during the summer is hoping get comedy fans in a spin.

Tom Cunningham, 24, who is a partner in the Red Rooms bar in Ormerod Road and also runs a bar in Austria, shot to fame at the weekend when he appeared in the popular ITV dating show Take Me Out.

Tom, who is also a snowboarding instructor in Austria, is now writing a stand-up show called Confessions of a Holiday Rep.

On Saturday millions of viewers saw Tom, whose family still live in Brunshaw Road, win a date with Londoner Sarah Barratt, one of the 30 girls on Take Me Out after a series of questions and challenges.

He said: “The show was great fun, four nights in a five-star hotel in Manchester was fantastic.

“The date didn’t go that well but after the cameras had turned off it was a lot better and we got drunk together and had a laugh.

“I’ve seen Sarah a few times since in London.”

Tom is a partner in The Red Rooms, in Ormerod Road, Burnley, and previously ran a recruitment company in the town before blowing all his money on partying.

The former Queen Elizabeth Grammar School pupil said he couldn’t have returned to the town if he had failed to get a date.

He said: “I was really nervous coming down the lift to face the girls.

“I wouldn’t have been able to show my face in town again had I not got a date that’s for sure.

“I’m good friends now with one of the other lads on the show and we all had a night out after, it was a great experience.”

Tom is the second East Lancashire singleton to feature on the show – fronted by Bolton comic and Phoenix Nights actor Paddy McGuinness.

Lia-Jay Holmes, 24, of Dean Lane, Water, appeared on the 30-strong panel of women on Take Me Out, back in January.
