BLACKBURN Drama Club will tackle The Heiress for its last production of the season, from May 16 to 19.

Written by Ruth and Augustus Goetz, it is the story of Catherine, a young naive woman who lives with her father Dr Sloper.

Catherine's mother died years earlier and Dr Sloper still idolises her and compares his daughter to her, a competition the daughter can never win.

When Morris Townsend, a handsome but penniless young man, woos and wins his daughter''s heart Dr Sloper is sure he is after her money and opposes the marriage.

Dr Sloper takes her to Europe in the hope she will forget, but she does not.

When Catherine returns the lovers plan to elope but Dr Sloper threatens to disinherit his daughter. Will this dissuade Morris?
