MUSICAL lovers attending the production of West Side Story from April 24 to 28 at Colne's Pendle Hippodrome will witness a little piece of history.
For playing the lead role of Tony in the St John's Amateur Operatic production will be James Cockerill - 22 years after he last performed with the society as a child lead in Oliver.
West Side Story runs from Tuesday, April 24 to Saturday, April 28 and for the first time the society will be staging a matinee performance on the Saturday.
The musical is being produced by Steven Royle with his wife Vicky choreographing the show. The musical director is Barry Jackson with Joe Winckley the accompanist.
Featuring a score by Leonard Bernstein and songs such as Maria, America and Tonight, West Side Story is one of the most popular musicals ever.
Other lead roles are Sarah Farragher as Maria, Jackie Catlow as Anita and Simon Bailey as Bernardo.
Performances start at 7.15pm and the Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.
