AUDIENCES are being urged to get in the ‘spirit’ for Oswaldtwistle Players’ production.

Wyrd Sisters’ is Terry Pratchett’s imaginative take on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and the players are offering a free programme to audience members dressed as characters from Discworld – and a prize for the best-dressed viewer will be handed out at the Saturday performance.

Described as a ‘sassy, satirical romp’ Wyrd Sisters has been adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs.

The players’ production, directed by Martina Burns, runs at the Civic Theatre, Union Road, from Wednesday, April 30 to Saturday, May 3, 7.30pm.

A players spokesman said: “Terry Pratchett’s incredible imagination has created Discworld, a complete fantasy world filled with strange and hilarious characters. His series of novels set in this other world have gained him cult status across our own world.

“In Wyrd Sisters, he takes inspiration from Macbeth and then turns it up until the knob comes off.

“It’s all there – a wicked duke and duchess, the ghost of the murdered king, dim soldiers, strolling players, a land in peril.

“And who stands between the Kingdom and destruction? Three witches; the intolerant, self-opinionated Granny Weatherwax, down-to-earth and vulgar Nanny Ogg, and naive Magrat Garlick – who has a fondness of occult jewellery and bunnies.”

Tickets cost £8.50 for adults, £7.50 for concessions £7.50, and £7 all seats on opening night. The performing rights royalties will paid to the Orangutan Foundation. Visit www.ticket source.co. uk/oswplayers or call 01254 380293 or 01254 398319 to book.
