Maisie Williams has dashed the hopes of Kit Harington fans by declaring that there is “no hope” of a return for his Game of Thrones character, Jon Snow.
“We saw him get stabbed a lot in the chest,” she told PEOPLE. “I think that’s pretty clear that he’s [dead].”
The 18-year-old, who plays Arya Stark in the hit series, said: “It’s heartbreaking… knowing that we’re not going to be with Kit again. People are really hurt by it, but that’s what this show does. If you haven’t learned that by now, I can’t help you!”
Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark and will be returning for the sixth series, was less certain.
He told the Press Association he didn’t know if Jon Snow would return: “Who knows? We start filming series 6 at the end of this month [July], so we’ll see.”
The 16-year-old added: “I had friends asking me for the scoop on Jon Snow, but I told them, I can’t say. HBO have snipers everywhere!”
Emilia Clarke, the actress who plays Daenerys Targaryen, has previously told MTV that she gave Jon Snow a “50/50 chance” of survival, adding: ”There’s some very helpful people there who could bring him on back to life.”
Isaac is willing to share his co-star’s optimism: “If Emilia reckons that, then it must be true.”
