Unlucky-in-love Nancy has another doomed relationship on the Hollyoaks horizon

Nancy split from husband Darren following a storyline that saw him hoodwinked by psychotic nanny Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) and he has since been enjoying a romance with Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson).

His ex, played by Jessica Fox, has struggled with a painkiller addiction and has had a short-lived relationship with Joe Roscoe (Ayden Callaghan).

Now, according to Digital Spy, she is set for a new love story with someone “wholly unsuitable”.

She said: “Nancy has no luck with men and this time is going to pick someone wholly unsuitable for her – but she’s going to be in control, which will be a nice thing for her.

“Joe was a disaster, Darren, let’s not even go there, so this new man better watch his back.”

She teased: “It’s someone we know. It’s someone I think the audience would love and hate Nancy to be with. I know I love and hate it because I love the actor, but am not too convinced on how long-lasting these two characters will be together.”

On why Nancy and Joe’s relationship had fizzled, she explained: “Joe had too much baggage, Nancy had too much baggage, she entered that relationship right after she had got clean from her latest drug addiction, and she just wasn’t ready for a relationship and I don’t think Joe was either.

“They just kind of found themselves together and thought, ‘Well, it’s a bit of fun, isn’t it?’. But it ran its course pretty quickly.”

Asked whether she’d like to see Nancy and Darren reunite, Jessica admitted: “Maybe a little bit. I love working with Ashley and I think Nancy and Darren have a spark that has not been recreated by any other characters on the show. Whoever they put us with, they always end up shoving us back together for scenes and going, ‘We just miss a bit of that spark that they have’.

“I think there’s still a lot of love there and there will continue to be love there. I don’t think it’s the end for Nancy and Darren, but I don’t think it’s any time soon.”
