EastEnders newcomer Richard Blackwood has revealed his co-star Samantha Womack is an unlikely rapper.
Richard’s character Vincent Hubbard is torn between Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha) and Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), and said he loved working with both women.
He revealed to Inside Soap: “Me and Sam are always singing. I’ve said we should do an album together – Richard And Sam Sings – and record a load of cover versions of songs.
“I tell you, that woman sure knows her hip hop.”
He added of Tameka: “I’ve known Tameka for 16 years and she’s still a nutcase, we laugh constantly. It’s hard to get any work done because we’re so busy laughing all the time.”
Comic and presenter Richard added that he hadn’t needed to think twice about taking on a role in the BBC soap.
He said: “I didn’t need to think about it – it was a no-brainer. EastEnders is the number one show in the country right now, and the great thing about it is that you get to play different layers of a character in various circumstances.”
Richard continued of Vincent: “I’m a person who thinks before he does things, I’m not impulsive. So to play a character who doesn’t have any fear is a lovely thing.
“Sometimes he’ll react in a certain way that I’d love to in real life, but I can’t. So I can exercise all that stuff through his story.”
