Bono has revealed he still hasn’t recovered enough from his cycling accident to be able to play the guitar again.
The U2 frontman broke his arm in six places, as well as sustaining fractures to his eye socket, his shoulder, his elbow and his left hand, when he fell off his bike while cycling in New York’s Central Park in November last year.
Five months on, and Bono is still suffering from his injuries – and U2 are about to begin their new Innocence And Experience tour later this month.
The 54-year-old rocker told the New York Times: “It feels like I have somebody else’s hand. I can’t bend these [fingers], and this is like rigor mortis. But they say that nerves heal about a millimetre a week, so in about 13 months I should know if it’s coming back.
“It’s all numb here, and this is titanium. The shoulder’s better, the face is better.
“But this is the hard bit because I can’t play guitar. They [the band] don’t seem to mind.”
U2 are heading to the UK with their tour later this year.
