Here's how to recreate Rosamund Pike and Anna Kendrick's gorgeous Oscars updos

Pulled-back updos were the dominating hair trends among the celebrities at the 87th Academy awards, with Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike and Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick standing out with their stylish buns.

Stylists at Great Lengths and Regis Salon show how you can recreate Rosamund and Anna’s gorgeous hairstyles in a few simple steps.

Rosamund Pike’s chic bun

Step 1: Brush the hair through. Prepare a bobble with two bobby pins by pulling them over the bobble loop and placing them opposite each other.

Step 2: Take a dressing brush and section off small panels of hair on top of the head. Mist with I.C.O.N Done finishing spray and back comb underneath the hair to create root lift. Repeat with additional sections moving back to the crown.

Step 3: Pull your back-combed sections of hair forward. Sweep the rest of the hair into a ponytail using a paddle brush. Take your bobble with pins, push one pin at the top of the pony, wrap the bobble round tight and secure the second grip under the pony.

Step 4: Take the leftover hair at the front and sweep it back.

Step 5: Take the ponytail in your hand and twist gently. Then wrap around the band to form a bun. Put it into place and finish with a spritz of finishing spray to hold.

Anna Kendrick’s wavy chignon

Step 1: Start with day-old, unwashed hair if possible. If you have just washed your hair, spritz some hairspray such as (Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity) onto your fingers and run through hair to create texture for extra hold.

Step 2: Prep the hair with rollers to create a slight wave.  This will make the hair more malleable. Run a small amount of oil or serum (Wella SP Luxe Oil) to reduce flyaways.

Step 3: Brush the hair and create a deep side parting, section the hair from the ear and pin it out of the way.

Step 4: Gather the remaining hair into a mid-ponytail.

Step 5: Split the ponytail into two and braid. Secure with a hair elastic at each end.

Step 6: Twist the two plaits around each other to form a knot. Pin into place.

Step 7: Bring the right side up and over the top of the bun, teasing into the desired position. Repeat on the other side.

Step 8: Spritz with a light hold hairspray or light-reflecting oil spray for extra shine.
