Kasabian have topped the nomination list for this year’s NME Awards as they battle for eight prizes.
Other acts with multiple places on the shortlists include Royal Blood and Jamie T who are in the running for seven awards.
Kasabian are among the stars who will compete for the best British band trophy along with Alt-J, Arctic Monkeys, Chvrches, Royal Blood and The Libertines.
Another top award for best album will be fought out between Kasabian for 48:13, Jamie T (Carry On The Grudge), La Roux (Trouble In Paradise), Royal Blood (Royal Blood), Run The Jewels (Run The Jewels 2) and St Vincent (St Vincent).
The ceremony – officially called the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas – are to be staged at the O2 Academy Brixton on February 18.
The villain of the year category sees Russell Brand and Nigel Farage go head to head after last week’s clash on BBC current affairs show Question Time. Also in the category are Taylor Swift, Bono, Prime Minister David Cameron and Harry Styles.
NME editor Mike Williams said: “From massive comebacks to huge breakthroughs – the fact that Kasabian, Royal Blood and Jamie T are leading the way shows what an outstanding year it’s been for British rock music.”
