AN ‘alternative Olympics’ saw teenagers invent wacky new games in Hyndburn at the weekend.

The Big Game, a sporting event developed by young people from Oswaldtwistle’s Civic Arts Centre and Pendle-based youth theatre Fuse, saw youngsters combine arts and sport at the Rhyddings Park spectacular on Saturday.

The event formed part of the London 2012 Open Weekend, a series of sporting and cultural events taking place across the UK to celebrate the ‘one year to go’ countdown to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Youngsters took part in a procession before teams competed in sports invented by the young people.
