LAST summer, a resurrection no one thought possible took place in Heaton Park.

The Stone Roses played three record-breaking gigs to more than 220,000 adoring fans and acclaimed film-maker Shane Meadows was there to capture the momentous occasion.

The world premiere of The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone will be held at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester, next Thursday, with an appearance from the band, for which tickets sold out in one minute.

There will be live satellite screenings of the event at cinemas across the country, including Vue in Bolton and Bury, and Cineworld in Bolton, for which tickets were still available at the time of writing.

Fans will be able to watch the 96-minute, highly anticipated documentary and ask questions to Shane, director of This Is England, either at the event in Manchester or from cinemas around the country via Twitter.

The film, which captures Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary “Mani” Mounfield and drummer Alan “Reni” Wren at work as they rehearsed for their reunion plus unparalleled access to the sell-out concerts, will open nationwide at cinemas from June 5.

Shane said: “I’d love to think the tickets selling out so quick was down to the fanbase I’ve built up over the last 15 to 20 years, but I know it’s them lot (the band) that everyone’s really coming to see.

“Bald Chunkers like me don’t sell out stadiums, but if we’ve got a Guinness World Record I would deffo take the credit.”

Bringing his unique directorial style, humour and emotional depth to the film, it will also feature never-before-seen material spanning the band’s musical history and the personal experiences of many of those touched by The Stone Roses and their music.

With unprecedented access to archive footage, The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone promises to be a revealing journey through the life of one of the most revered and influential bands in British music history.
