DON’T be fooled by the title: Dr. McGlade’s book is both accessible and entertaining.

Caton-based McGlade’s new perspective on WW2 is clear and insightful, as he outlines the develop-ment and achievements of British photographers during the conflict.

As you might expect, there are a host of remarkable photographs from the period; accompanied by soldiers’ letters and other literature, which provide the most compelling parts of the book.

The eight chapters can be enjoyed as individual adventures – and chapter six on the D-day landings is especially thrilling.
