Lancashire Telegraph review by Kate Turner from June 26, 2010.

AFTER entertaining two troublesome toddlers at Wacky Warehouse at the Hollywood Star in Burnley on a rainy morning, my friend and I headed inside to the pub area to replenish our energy.

It’s a little dingy inside and the tables weren’t all clean but the staff were helpful, offering to get highchairs for our sons.

The extensive menu had too much to chose from, ranging from salads and light bites to Indian dishes, Italian favourites, roasts to fish and chips.

We opted for piri piri chicken skewers with rice and salad for £9.40, while our sons had cheese and tomato pizza with carrot sticks and garlic bread for £2.95.

The main meals were on buy one get one free, an offer that is on all main meals all day, every day so we ordered a side portion of chips as well.

The food came promptly and was steaming hot and there was enough on one plate probably to feed us all.

The chicken was tender and juicy but there was too much piri piri sauce, which meant that by the time I had finished one skewer I had already drunk my pint of Coke.

The boys seemed to enjoy their pizza and garlic bread with most of gone by the end of the meal.

All of us were stuffed to the brim and unable to face one of the many tasty-looking puddings on the menu.

The Hollywood Star offers a place to grab some good pub grub at a reasonable price before heading to the cinema next door or into the Wacky Warehouse.

But most of the food didn’t seem home cooked, so if you’re looking for gourmet food, look elsewhere.
