Lancashire Telegraph review by Anna Mansell from June 10, 2010.

AFTER a couple of hours relaxing at Inside Spa at Wavelengths in Nelson, my friend suggested a bite to eat.

What with the exertion of chatting and chilling in the steam room, we were pretty peckish and she suggested the Thatch and Thistle, just off the M65 at Nelson.

Although, somewhat lacking in natural light, the pub — part of the Hungry Horse brand — was bright and clean looking.

We picked a tuna melt and New York chicken hot baguettes, with a pole of onion rings and a couple of soft drinks, which added up to a fairly good value £14.21.

Both baguettes were packed with fillings, topped with melted cheese, on rather large plate with a very small salad.

Sadly the chicken was a little dry and did not have enough barbecue sauce for my liking. And the salad looked like it had been left under the hot lights for too long.

The onion rings were a triumph — a huge pole of crunchy treats, with loads of salsa and sour dips.

Overall not bad, and it wouldn’t take much to get higher marks.
