A re-issue of Albert Lewin’s 1951 Technicolour drama, which has been lovingly restored for the big screen.
Henrik van der Zee (James Mason) is doomed to sail the seas as punishment for the murder of his wife.
The only way to break the curse is to find a woman willing to die for him.
In a sun-baked Mediterranean resort, Fredrik meets beautiful yet conniving Pandora (Ava Gardner), who flaunts her obvious charms to drive all of the local boys to distraction.
In a spooky twist, Pandora also looks uncannily like Fredrik’s slain wife.
So the eponymous Dutchman pursues Pandora and as the pair fall madly in love, Fredrik must contemplate whether he is willing to lose his new belle to death’s icy grasp.
