For those like me who are newcomers to this, Swan Lake revolves around Prince Siegfried who is trying to find his bride.

While out hunting he finds his true love Odette.

She explains that the wicked Baron Rothbart has transformed her into a swan and the only way to be released from his evil spell is for someone to pledge their everlasting love for her.

The Prince is then tricked into declaring his love for the Baron's daughter, Odile (Odette's evil double) at his betrothal party and Odette flees, distraught, back to the lake.

Prince Siegfried realises his mistake and rushes to the lake where he battles with the evil Baron, destroying his powers, and the lovers are united at last.

Although there wasn't a live orchestra, the performance by the Vienna Festival Ballet was still an amazing experience.

Tchaikovsky's music, the graceful movement and the beautiful costumes made it an evening to remember.

The dancers beautifully moved across the stage, bringing alive this most romantic of stoylines.

My favourite scene had to be at the lake, with the dancers wearing their floating skirts and Odette in her glittering white tutu.

The audience clapped and cheered as the performance came to a close and as we were leaving I resolved I'd be back later in the year when the Vienna Festival Ballet is set to return to perform the Nutcracker.

Ballet's got me hooked.
