THE Hospital Inn is just the tonic you need after a hectic week.

Both its food and bustling dining room can revive both your body and spirits — and you won’t break the bank to enjoy it either.

The menu is so extensive, you really are spoilt for choice and when you factor in half a dozen specials as well, you keep changing your mind before finally ordering.

We met up with friends for a late birthday celebration and the dining room was packed out, even as early as 7pm, with early evening a popular time for families.

After a long deliberation I opted for the sizzling Oriental beef, at £13.99, which really does come bubbling to your table, served on stir fry vegetables, drizzled with oriental sauce and served with rice. It’s enough to say everyone kept digging in.

My other half went for the chicken caesar salad, at £8.95, which could happily be ordered without the anchovies, while across the table, our two friends went for the luxury fish pie at £9.25, bursting with salmon, smoked haddock, prawns and white fish in a creamy leek sauce topped with mashed and served with seasonal salad and the individual cheese and onion pie, served with chips at £8.25.

Sated, but not to bursting point, we all then went for the lemon meringue, drizzled with lemon sauce and ice cream — ideal therapy!
