DIANA Vickers is on course to repeat her number one single success in the album chart.

According to the Official Charts Company the 18-year-old’s album Songs From the Tainted Cherry Tree is ahead of her rivals at the midweek point.

The Huncoat X Factor star is battling with Plan B, AC/DC and Usher for the number one spot.

But she is hot favourite to take the position on Sunday after topping several midweek charts, including Radio 1’s Official Chart Update and the HMV top 10 selling albums.

“It’s pretty fantastic for her” said Paul Nuttall, owner of Blackburn’s famous Reidy’s music store.

“A number one album is great for her career.

“It means much more longevity as when she releases her next album she’ll have this story to tell.

“It puts her amongst the biggest solo artists worldwide.”

The former Westholme pupil recently became the first East Lancashire solo artist to achieve a number one single with her debut release Once.

Her single is also on course to remain in the top 10 according the midweek singles charts.

Diana was knocked off the top spot last week by Roll Deep with their single Good Times but remained in a high position at number four. She has also been announced to appear at two more upcoming festivals.

The singer will perform at the Radio 1 Big Weekend on Sunday May 23 in Bangor and headline a show at the Roundhouse in Camden, London on Wednesday July 28 as part of the month-long iTunes Festival.
