According to the spin
The NHS is free
But we pay for it in taxes
As far as I can see
You always have to wait
And wait and wait and wait
For your short appointment
With the health part of the state
The consultants are like gods
You must approach with awe
But only when you’ve seen
Your GP weeks before
People wait in silence
To see what is in store
For them. And then they wait
At least an hour more
Nurses dressed in uniforms
Hover round the throne
While the great and mighty one
Talks golf upon the phone
But perhaps I wouldn’t need
To see the big ‘I Am’
If I ate more fruit and veg
And jogged a bit and swam
